Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Metacam aka meloxicam dose?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com
I agree the Metacan shouldn't be given long term in combination with prednisilone, however we are looking at a short term use to provide relief to an elderly ferret for what appears to be an injury. It was felt the Metacam would be less detrimental to him than a higher dose of pred due to his heart issues.
The pred and the Metacam can easily be hidden in his food. Also, there is only the one strength of the liquid med available. There are two strengths available in the pill form.
Is there a better anti-inflammatory for this specific case?
