Subject: [ferrethealth] Adrenal ferret with diarrhoea
To: <ferrethealth@smartgroups.com>

I am not a vet, but my only comments would be to
get stool tests to rule out infectious diarrhea, parasites, etc.
ALso, the WBC count is high with a shift towards those that fight infection-
so just based on that it looks like some kind of infection is possible.
Maybe even take a look at the urine, with adrenal disease for this amount of
time there can be an underlying prostatitis, or urinary infection possible ?
Straining to pee, marking? Or other signs of urinary difficulties?

I would also suggest getting him on a bland diet or supplementing extra
feedings, like chicken or turkey baby food- bob church's chicken gravy,
something along those lines and some extra fluids to replace loss from the
diarrhea.

Hind end weakness is nonspecific in ferrets, and can be seen whenever they
are getting ill or debilitated.
