My thanks to everyone that responded to my question about Metacam.

Owners' vets have prescribed everywhere from the one drop per pound, up to 0.2 ml, once a day on food. (some private responses)

Valentine has shown a lot of improvement in his mobility. He still tucks his hips under a bit when he walks, but his back has a good arch and he is active and alert.
