Subject: [ferrethealth] Weight loss in an otherwise healthy ferret

My Rikki will be a year old on 10/16. Since May he has lost 1lb. At first=
the vet was not concerned because the loss was noted a few weeks after his=
cagemate and best ferret bud Sissy was lost to JL. He is playing normal, =
his eyes, skin, coat and stool are normal. I have begun to supplement his =
normal ferret chow with Carvivore Care at the advice of my vet. How much o=
f the normal food he is eating is not determinable as we also have Slick an=
d Nina. The 3 get along wonderfully and to seperate him from them just doe=
sn't seem right since he is showing no signs of illness. He is alert and p=
layful. My vet would like to do a blood draw on him just to be sure. I kn=
ow this is traumatic to these little ones so I'm just not certain I want to=
put him through that with nothing other than a weight issue. Any advise o=
r suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I've only been a=
Ferret Addict for a little over a year. I don't know if this weight loss =
is a definate indicator of a more serious issue or not. =
