Subject: [ferrethealth] Blaze not doing well
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

sigh. We spent the first 3 days of the week at the vets. Blaze was
doing very well till Saturday evening when I noticed he repeatedly went
to the papers. I thought perhaps a urinary blockage but each time our
vet examined him his bladder was empty. His wee wee area is red. I
thought crystals or stones possibly one stuck in the urethra. Vet
didn't think so because he is keeping his bladder empty. Then Blaze
passed a blood clot, and another, then fresh blood rectally. Previously
stools were loose and normal color. The ultrasound didn't show
anything abnormal and the abdomen felt normal. More blood, now darker
and thicker liquid. Our vet thinks it may be another ulceration, this
time in the colon. Blaze is on amoxi, biaxin, baytril, pepto orally,
barium rectally, centrine injectable. Our vet is out of town till
Monday. I'm afraid Blaze won't make it. sigh. I'm doing everything I
can think of to keep him going but if we don't find the ulceration and
repair it, he doesn't have a chance. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm
only on email Mon-Sat during the day so after those times I can be
reached at home 785-456-8337.
