Subject: [ferrethealth] Other causes of hair loss...

Hello everyone,
I have 6 ferrets, who are all currently shedding faster then the maple tree in the yard. My 5-year old male ferret, Spring, lost quite a lot of fur on his sides pretty much overnight last week, and it's not coming back yet. The other years in the fall after the ferrets would shed most of their fur it'd start coming back, at least a little bit, by a week or so after they lost it. He has absolutely no symptoms of adrenal disease, still fat, still active, not being aggressive to the others. I don't know much about the other causes of hair loss in ferrets that are non-adrenal, such as skin conditions.

Am I being overly worried or is there another reason that Spring's shed fur has not come back yet? Should he see a vet, or should I wait? Thanks.
-Emily
