Subject: [ferrethealth] Question for those who feed Innova Evo Ferret food
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Hi all,

About 8 weeks ago, I started mixing Innova Evo for Ferrets into my kibble mix of four or five kibbles. Gradually, we've shifted to 100 percent Innova, partly because I think it's a superior choice for any ferret and partly because my vet suggested it as one of my ferrets was diagnosed with severe irritable bowel disorder and we wanted to avoid grains (that's Ronan, whom I have written about before--I'll be posting a follow up on him later, once things are full resolved). Because of the recent confirmed diagnosis of the IBD guy, I'm stool-watching pretty intensively right now.

My question to anybody out there who feeds all or mostly Innova is: what is a regular stool texture like on this food? I don't have the bag any more, but I recall reading on it that stool consistency would change, which makes sense as it has less fiber than other kibbles with more plant matter. But I'm seeing stool from both ferrets that's marginally more solid than thick pudding. It starts out with a regular shape and then tends to puddle after a bit. Does this sound normal for this diet? The stool also smells a bit, well, poopier, but not in an unhealthy way, I don't think. (sorry, hope none of you are eating lunch as you read this! :-)

Thanks for any insight,

Regina
