Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Post Adrenal Surgery Issues
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Among the thoughts that come to mind are a possible allergy to something, including meds, or an accidental unspotted injury to the colon during surgery, or even related to the growth itself (which the pathology results will help understand when they come back if you had pathology done).

It sounds like a transfusion may be order, and if not (or in conjunction) perhaps Epogen.

Ferrets don't have blood types so find a large male donor ferret for blood.

Perhaps the ferret was already developing anemia from the adrenal growth. That is harder to treat but there are recommendations beyond transfusion and Epogen in the archives, and I wonder (but do not know) if in such as case a marrow transplant would help? That is also in the archives. I think that this may be a less likely than the other possibilities I mentioned, but not being a vet I certainly could be wrong.
