On re-reading your post I note that you administer the pred once per day. The generally recommended dosage is 0.5 to 2.0/kg q12h (twice daily). Perhaps the once a day dose is allowing her glucose to dip on a daily basis and as you give it in the evening her glucose will be lowest in the afternoon and early evening before she gets the med.
Check with your vet before altering the dose, please.
