Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Honking like a goose
> For about a year and a half I have had one ferret who has an intermittent strange sound. It is NOT a normal ferret chortle, cluck, dook or any other sound they make either frequently or infrequently. It is NOT a cough, or hacking sound.
I had a ferret, coincidentally also named Sammy, who made a similar sound, but I called it a cricket sound. He became Cricket Boy around here! LOL And, of course, he never did it at the vets' office so finally managed to tape it for my vet. He ended up being diagnosed with cryotococcus after some lesions appeared (roof of his mouth, lip).
It sounded different from that trachael sound my shih tzu make on occasion, but somewhat similar.
I looked in the Archives and found 3 posts I made about Sammy. Maybe they'll give you some ideas.
