Subject: [ferrethealth] renal failure with low creatinine levels?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com
My ferret has spent the night at the vet on IV in an incubator after I came home to find her severaly and deathly dehydrated. She has lost weight the past several months and I considered cancer but nothing untoward was found in an exam, except gingivitis. She had her teeth cleaned and two teeth pulled two weeks ago and seems to be better afterwards. She is now near death with mouth ulcers. Her BUN levels and phosphorus levels are very high but her creatine levels are normal.
I am waiting to see if the hospital can stabalise her within the 24-48 hours like some sites suggested before considering taking her home for fluid therapy.
The low creatinine level throws me though, any ideas? I am in a smallish town and this is the only vet who deals with exotics. She is great though and willing to try and learn but I feel I need to educate myself as much as possible before going in today to see Squirrel.
Any advice would be great, thank you.
Ashley
