I just wanted to add - my regular vet is out of town this weekend at a conference, but his SO, who works in his practice and is also a ferret specialist was working in the clinic today.
I just got off the phone with her, and sent them the link to the article in an email. She was very excited about the information. Both of them love learning new things, and dealing with unusual diseases. So, I will be seeing them sometime next week to discuss how we can test for this condition, and how to treat if that is what it is.
I will post information when I know more, in case people are interested.
