Subject: [ferrethealth] Question about my itchy ferret.

Hello,
I went home for the weekend (Friday night - Sunday afternoon) and
left my ferret at home with plenty of food and water, and she was
itchy as usual, jumping out of a deep sleep to itch, but I read that
was pretty normal. I came back and today I found her itching a lot
more and she has patches of not so bald spots on her back and the end
of her tail also. It looks like there might be more dense or coarse
hair growing in the balder spots, so could it just be that she is
getting her winter coat as well and itching off the old sluff? Or
could it be possible adrenal disease? I dont know how quick the
baldness comes up on those ferrets, but Nikita's was very sudden.
Shes five years old now and is otherwise very healthy, just suddenly
got real itchy. I also check her every bath for fleas and have found
none and have deflead her this month as well (It was about 2 weeks
ago). I hope someone can explain this to me cause shes never had this
happen before.
Oh, and could a sudden coldness do this as well? The temperature this
weekend got pretty cold up here, and the temperature was not as warm
as I keep it when I am around, which is about 80 F, so it probably
dropped to 70 F inside with the cold outside.
