We have encountered BOTH. Bilateral fur loss anywhere forward of the
tail often means adrenal and sometimes such loss on the tail also
does, but allergies CAN be the cause though far more rarely. Our
Hilbert is in that situation. In fact, here is what is now going on

The exhaustion has me very worried that your Calvin might have
adrenal disease related anemia. Was a CBC with Chemistry Panel?

Yes, adrenals come up all the time in discussion and there was some
excellent info recently.
