He was diagnosed with IBD through biopsy this fall, and is
currently on prednisone. He had the very foul-smelling stool,
bacterial overgrowths in his stool, he was overweight and
always eating, and had an enlarged spleen. Antibiotics would
get his stool under control as long as he was taking them, but
within a day of finishing the antibiotic course, he'd be right
back where he started. Just a thought...

Some of that sounds similiar to Suki, you use the word "was"
when describing his symptoms, is the improvement due to the
prednisone?
>From reading Dr Williams comments re IBD in the archive I am
aware that IBD is not a single disease and can be caused by a
variety of organisms etc.
Has anyone else experienced persistent low grade diarhea with
weight gain, good appetite, fur in good condition, very active
behaviour, elevated liver values (LDH??) and long wake time
(6+ hrs/day). I just spoke to the vet on the phone and his
concern is with the liver values. I have a vet visit tomorrow
and we will redo bloods and endoscopic exam.
