To be safest, given the darkness of the stool do have the ferret checked for a possible
ulceration. There can be other causes but somethings it is better to be a bit careful about
and get the good news that the problem doesn't exist rather than be caught unaware.

You know how I am: I swear by correct use of the pediatric liquid formulation of Carafate
when there is any chance of a stomach ulcer.
