One of the vets at the surgery I use said that in diabetic cats they scratch
the ear to get a drop of blood for BG monitoring. Has anybody tried this in
ferrets or does anybody have an idea whether or not it would/ could work?

I have never been able to get enough blood poking a foot pad and I can
not/will not cut a nail short enough to make someone bleed, but someone on
the FML, and forgive me for not remember who, but she taught me to poke the
end of the tail. So I shaved a bald spot on Ricky's tail and by poking and
collecting there I was able to get a big enough drop for a reading. Ricky
didn't like it and I still felt horrible poking him, but I was able to
monitor his BG that way.
