Subject: [ferrethealth] latest update with my emergency-results of Vet visit
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I saw Dr. XXX of the XXX Animal Hospital in Stratford. In the
past 36 hours of closely feeding and monitoring Thelma and Louise, it
became abundantly clear that Thelma was not allowing Louise eat or
drink. After examining Louise, he agrees with my assesment. Over 20
years ago, Dr. XXX was the vet a friend of mine took HER ferrets to.
She didn't think he'd still be practicing, sure enuff, he's the one and
the same. He recommended that I have multiple feeding stations and
water bottles, since it makes logical sense that Thelma can't guard
them all. Plus he did do a sub q IV push to help rehydrate Louise. He
gave me encouraging words that I am doing all the right things to help
Louise. I feel guilty that that I didn't pick up the fact that Thelma
was being a bully sooner. When I get my check on Wednesday, I am
getting an extra cage for Louise so that she can have exclusive access
to food and water. In the water bottle I plan on putting the remainder
of the Pedialyte in that bottle. This ensures that only Louise has that
Pedialyte. Can't gurantee that if they both are in the same cage even
with multiple stations. Until she is up to normal weight and health
will I put them back together.
Thanks again for all ur help and advise.
