Subject: [ferrethealth] Both adrenals enlarged - what to do
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Deal All,

Yesterday I got the US result for my 5 yo female ferret. According to
the vet who performed the US, everything is fine, but according to
another vet, both adrenals are enlarged:

Right 0,9cm x 0,3cm or 0,35in x 0,12in
Left 0,7cm x 0,2cm or 0,28in x 0,08in

Are they really that enlarged? She is a fat and short female.

She has absolutely no symptom that could suggest adrenal disease. Her
health seems to be perfect. Besides, as both adrenals have similar
sizes, I do not think about surgery yet - simply because nobody would
know which adrenal to remove.

If I started giving melatonin to her now, would it be any helpful? Or
should I wait for her to start developing symptoms before giving the
melatonin?

Again, thanks a lot
Alessandra (Helio=B4s wife)
