Subject: [ferrethealth] Warning re: BG home testing

Just wanted to provide a little caution when using the free style
meter on a ferret part other than the foot. You might want to check
with your vet. In humans, because testing in a spot other than the
finger does not elicit as fresh a sample, they recommend rubbing the
testing area before doing the stick, to get the blood moving so to
speak. I have no idea if this applies to ferrets (there was another
e-mail that mentioned possible ear use?) This is not meant as a
comment about the efficacy of the meter just a word of caution in
using the best glucose testing techniques. Good luck.
