You are right. They need lots of new things to do and it can be so hard to come up with that. I have the rice box, ferret tunnels, toys, boxes with holes and everything else I can think of. Sometimes I open my bathroom cabinet up to them. I never store any cleaners or anything in that. So, I take out all the things that could either hurt them, or they could destroy and about once a month I open the door and act like Oops, I forgot to latch it good. They goes crazy snooping around and digging around and climbing in the drawers.
I also drag an old pair of overalls around on the floor slowly and they love to catch it and slip in the arms or legs and go for a ride. Another fun game they love is when I get an empty cola flat (such as from Walmart Sam's choice cola) I put a rope through the plastic and drag the box around. They climb in and go for a ride looking through the plastic as they go.
Even with all that, they get so bored. I would love to hear what others do so I can try new things to enrich their playtime.
