I can't help you with any confidence. I don't know what coconut coir is. All I can tell you is that I do not recommend giving any fruits or veggies because of the sugar effect upon digestion, if it gets digested and the empty calorie and nutrition effect if it passes straight through.. the danger of that is that if they fill up with something that does not breakdown into real nutrition to be absorbed they could become malnourished and even die of starvation although the mom or dad might think - they're eating..
