I can speak to the cost which can arise when treating a fungal disease, although what we
were treating turned out to not be fungal...

When Chiclet was one of the first ferrets to definitely show DIM the possibilities were
unknown.

When nothing was working and she was worsening near the end the consultations pretty
much resulted in; "Well, let's try hitting her with a med that can tackle fungal infections to be
safest because just maybe..."

The preferred med for a short run of a possible unknown fungal infection in very
compromised ferret cost us something like $265 at the pharmacy, and that was with us doing
our own crushing, blending and measuring because it was not a serrated pill. As it turned
out it wasn't fungal and the DIM caught up with her heart that same week, so we donated the
med to any patient of the veterinary hospital who needed it so that at least somebody would
be helped.

I don't know what other meds for fungal disease cost, but that was a hefty chunk of change.
