Subject: [ferrethealth] mammary tumors
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hello, I am new to this group. I was reffered to it by a friend so I
thought I would try to find some infomation. I recently had to have
some large masses removed from my ferrets lower abdomen. They turned
out to be mammary tumors which apperently seems to be uncommon for
ferrets. My vet has not come across this in ferrets so I'm seeking
information from anyone who has seem this before. He had 3 large
masses that developed very quickly. All the masses were removed but
I'm not sure if they have spread to other areas. Please let me know if
you have any experience with this. I'm not sure what route to choose
in treating my little boy!
(p.s. "Chaos" is about 3-4 years old and he also is suspected to
have adrenal glad disease. He was getting the melatonin implants to
lessen the symptoms. He is fed "Totally Ferret" and never any snacks
other than ferretvite. He rooms with my other two ferrets in a room
all to themselves. I'm not sure if any of this info helps but it's
worth a shot.)
