Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: safe potting soil for dig box?

Sorry, i should have explained. Coconut coir is like Bed a Beast - a
soil-like substance that comes in a brick that you soak in water.
After becoming saturated and then dried, it is a peatmoss-like medium
that is not dusty and is completely sterile. It is considered optimum
substrate for reptiles (tortoises, snakes, etc.) and amphibians who are
much more susceptible to the bacteria, etc. that might be found in
ordinary soil or potting mixes than mammals are. Thus, it is perfect
for a dig box and is germ free. My ferrets love it.
