I am pleased to say Komay is doing well.
Early this morning she relieved herself on my rug with no
difficulty. I never thought I would be soo happy to see an animal go to
the bathroom on my rug!
I took her to the vet this morning and she was acting like a
typical nosey ferret digging and scratching and wanting to explore
everything. The vet said she didn't feel any blockages and since she's
relieving herself normally doubts there is a blockage.
Komay isn't dehydrated anymore and she does not have any ulcers in
her mouth. She is also still eating a little on her own.
The vet also thinks that it may have been the increase in the pred
that made her go downhill. I also told the vet how I was reading that
some generic pred have alcohol in them that can cause unwanted effects.
Does anyone know if the problems she was experiencing came from a
generic pred with alcohol? (I did call the pharmacy and the
non-pharmacist person I spoke to said the pred does not contain alcohol,
but you never know.) The vet did prescribe pediapred and made sure to
emphasize "no generics" on the script.
I had the vet take some blood for chem panel to make sure there
wasn't anything else going on. She also said that she wants an
ultrasound done before we decide whether or not to go through with
surgery.
I left the office with Hill's Science Diet A/D. Anyone have any tips
on how to get a ferret that has never had canned food to eat it?
It never ceases to amaze me how tough are our little guys and girls
are. This weekend I was sure she wasn't going to be able to make it to
Monday so I had my brother come over and dig a hole in the backyard just
in case. I am just so unbelievably happy that she's made it! I just hope
that she's able to pull through it completely.

Thank you everyone for all of your help and please keep your fingers
crossed for us :-)

Sheryl
