Well, you never get down to only one if you keep adding one more. In my case I added a buddy and then in groups of 4 twice.That's how I got to 10! I just lost one two weeks ago to lymphoma. I lay her out and let all the others sniff her and tell her good-bye. No one would play or take a favorite treat or anything that night but the next day they all acted normal again.

Eventually, one of the remaining 2 will also passaway, leaving a sole
survivor in the end again.

Not that I'm saying 3 is a bad number (Everyone gets a
playmate,including YOU. ), but I never understood that specific
rational behind it.
