With this description it is possible that some adrenal tissue was retained.

If the ferret is not on either Percorten or Flornef/Fludrocort and a steroid like Prednisolone
then it is assured that some adrenal tissue could not be removed.

In such a case treating for the remaining adrenal tissue and for either related skin sores or
related anemia is essential. If there is related anemia then help is needed very rapidly. Your
description as written sounds most like that to me.

We have had a ferret who had sores from an entirely different cause: he had an allergy which
was a hard one to track down because they were stashing some of the causative items. The
allergy was setting the stage with inflammation and then a secondary bacterial disease was
setting up housekeeping. These did not have an "under skin" appearance, though.

This excellent past post from the FHL Complete Archives could help you:

Transfusions are sometimes used when such anemia arises if that is what is being
encountered
