Joan, The size you need depends on where you live. If you live somewhere
where heartworms are present, you need to use the full grown cat size.
If there are no heartworms where you are, you can use the kitten size.
Check the archives of the ferret health list for Revolution and
AFERRETVET. Dr. Jerry Murray discusses the results of testing done by
him and the vet school at Texas A&M. Basically, they treated a bunch of
ferrets with a half dose of cat size and another bunch with a full dose
and exposed both bunches to heartworm carrying mosquitos. Of those that
got a half dose, 10% got heartworms. None of the ones that got the full
dose got them. Oh, the kitten size is just 1/2 the full grown cat size.
Same drug. I live in Florida so my little girl gets the full dose once a
month and has for a few years. I am not a vet.
