Subject: [ferrethealth] needing help - fleas
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Don't know if this will help or not, but, years ago we picked up a "free"
kitten only to get her home and find that she was full of fleas. When I say
full of fleas, I mean to the extent that she was scratching herself raw and
bloody. It was a holiday weekend (naturally) with no vets opened so I
called the local emergency vet's office. The vet told me that fleas were
NOT an emergency, no matter how bad. She then told me to give the kitten a
bath with Pert shampoo. I figured, what the heck, ran to Meijers for the
shampoo, and, gave the kitten a bath. It killed every flea on her body!!!!
Don't know what's in that bottle but I'm not about to use it on my head.
LOL

[Moderator's Note: Remember that many things that are safe for cats or dogs can kill ferrets, so before trying something be absolutely sure to make certain with a vet or toxicologist that it is safe for ferrets.]
