We personally use a veterinary product for rat tail in case OTC ones might cause even subtle
problems.
There is a shampoo -- sorry, but the name escapes me -- which is for skin conditions which
we use with a soft bristled toothbrush and then we moisturize the tail with something safe
like olive oil.
