I can only tell what has happened in the past to Bucky, my 'Blond Bomber'. When he was one year, he developed an infection in his prostrate, preventing the flow of urination. It was an emergency situation however through proper antibiotics, he recovered. At four, he started loosing his hair from the top of his head and the back. It turned out to be adrenaline tumors. Six months ago they were surgically removed, but I'm stil waiting for his hair to come back. But the Vet's office ssaid it would return in due season... when is due season????

Dear Sir HopofGrass (a.k.a., Robert Rose);

Stress, seasonal shed, dietary/nutritional insufficiency, hormonal fluctuations all can cause hair loss, even on the tail only. We used to tell people that it is akin to human teenaged acne (little blackheads on the tailskin), but some people lately have suggested that it is perhaps a PRE-warning of adrenal disease to come.

So let us know in a couple to a few years if they indeed do become adrenal, how old they are now that they have the hair thinning and how old they are when they become adrenal.

I do hope of course that they remain healthy all their lives, but tracking incidents to determine if a pattern exists is helpful.

Vicki
