To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
The ferrets I have that are losing their tail hair are all between four months and three years old- are free roam, have super- high quality diet, as much darkness as is humanly possible- the older ones, over a year, are on melatonin implants, and have been to my vet for a full health panel to make sure there is nothing I am missing. This has just begun since the indoor heating season has begun and my vet seems to think it is directly related to the high levels of dry heat. I have washed them and added conditioner and begun scrubbing tails, and added a humidifier. This has never been an issue before except for an occasional ferret.
