Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Insulinoma and adrenal surgery for Neo - perplexing problems
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Jeff, I think that you perhaps have to consider pancreatitis as a possibility here, though it
is also possible that the mass in the stomach is causing stomach, liver and pancreatic
irritation (something we have encountered in one who had congenital malformations), or
that something else is occurring. Pancreatitis is a rare complication of insulinoma surgery.
If you have the latest issue of Ferrets magazine (Jan and Feb '07) you will find an excellent
article by Dr. Sandra Kudrak Mitchell on the topic. If it is pancreatitis and worsens trouble
breathing may occur and so may improper clotting.

Let's see, meds to help reduce nausea and pain are mentioned, ditto IV, incubator,
antibiotics, meds to reduce the clotting process when that occurred. Hopefully,
pancreatitis is not what you are encountering , but in case it makes sense to consider it.

If it is just irritation from the stomach mass it will be easier to deal with but the cause may
need to come out. Unfortunately, stomach surgery can be a harder one to bounce back
from than more usual surgeries, though they usually do bounce back.
