Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Insulinoma and adrenal surgery for Neo - perplexing problems
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I don't have that specific article about pancreatitis, but I did read
about it online, and I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. I did
figure out that it may be the aroma of Neo's 'soup' when it is warm
that is inducing nausia for some reason. The two times that he's
vomited, or come close, are the two times that I warmed up the soup and
put the bowl in front of him. When it is warm it gives off a strong
aroma. Yet, I can put that same soup in a syringe, which basically
eliminates most of the scent, and he eats it right up. This is the
same warm soup that he used to devour out of the bowl, aroma and all,
but since the surgery something seems to have triggered an adverse
reaction to the aroma, not the food itself.

Neo's low BG level is still the big mystery. He is back on his
azium now, and will change over to Pred as soon as I can find a local
pharmacy to fill the script, hopefully on Monday. But why it remains
at levels in the 30's and 40's after the surgery is something I can't
figure out. I do have copies of his recent Blood Chemistry and CBC
report, but I don't know specifically what to look for. The vet thinks
it may be related to whatever may still be in his stomach, or that Neo
may still have small tumors in the pancreas, despite the fact that he
felt it carefully while doing the surgery, and reports that it felt
smooth and seemingly tumor free. His potassium levels are also low,
which is concerning the vet.

Is it possible that Neo's system just needs more time to balance
out, or is it likely that low BG levels will always plague him despite
having the surgery? I don't have a BG monitor (but I have one coming
in the mail), but he's now had two doses of the azium, and his activity
and alertness level has improved noticeably.

So, if anyone has other ideas as to what could be keeping his BG
low, please pass them along. Thanks.

Jeff
