With the three ferrets I had with lymphoma, it did hit hard and fast at the end. One of them had a tumor pressing on her heart and lungs, another had the lymphoma enter his bone marrow, and the third had the lymphoma impair/pretty much stop his kidney function (his whole body was really ravaged, that was just the final blow). I am not a vet, and of course you should keep looking for all possible causes. But be aware that lymphoma can act like this.
