What would happen if you let him out of his cage all the time? Bucky is also a five year. he, along with his playmate have never been confined to a cage except in the car when they go to Church on Sunday morning or to the Vet's. At times when they don't feel too well, they might enter the cage from the opened gate, to rest a while. What is his total normal weight? My Vet believes 3 - 4 lbs is normal around here. They can be litter trained or at the least, find out where he wants to go to the bathroom and put a newspaer down for him; he'll use it. (eventually). I consider them members of my family and I know I wouldn't want to be caged up all my life. But then I only have two, Bucky and Buckle. It's all I can keep up with.

Subject: [ferrethealth] hyperactivity

My male ferret is about 5years old he has always been a calm ferret and
was not unusually active. Then about 2 months ago he suddenly became
hyperactive and lost a whole pound. He is out of his cage 2hrs in the
morning and 2 or 3 hrs at night. He was happpy with this before. Now
when I put him back he bites on his cage bars and won't settle down. He
use to sleep in my arms when he was tired now if I try to hold him he's
restless. What's up? He has all his hair so I didn't think it was
adrenal gland disease.
