Subject: [ferrethealth] desperate for help!!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hello I'm new to this board and I come here searching for help. My
ferret Izzy is almost three years old and when she was a baby she
suffered an injury at a pet store and has spinal damage which has
caused partial back end paralysis. For the first year that I had we
never experienced any problems and them sometime in the second year
her butt turned red like a tomato. Since then this problems has
shown up about five or six more times. I take her to a wonderful vet
and we are always able to treat the symptoms but a lot of times she
will react to the medicine and get worse before she gets better.
However the none of the vets at the clinic can figure out why this
keeps happening. Last time the vet did find an unusually large
number of cyptosporidium and we treated for that which cleared the
problem up but now it is back (about 6-7 months later). I have spent
thousands trying to figure out what is wrong with her and it
frustrates me that yes we can treat the symptoms but we don't know
what is wrong with her. I know this is an advanced problem but if
anyone can give me any advice I will be grateful. Here is a picture
of her bum to help show how red it and irritated it is. I should
also note that she has been spayed and descented and all bloodwork
has been normal.
