Consider a skin biopsy (easily done) to check for things like cutaneous lymphoma. The
biopsy will pick up multiple possible causes.

Our Hilbert had two already. In his case the biopsies weren't completely helpful because
his problem turned out to be allergies irritating his skin so that bacterial dermatitis could
set up house. So, the biopsies did help with antibiotic selection but we still had to use
processes of elimination to find the cause of the allergy which was in a treat he was
getting.

If there is cutaneous lymphoma then past posts like this one

will help you.

I kind of have cutaneous lympho on the brain today because someone whose ferret did not
have clear symptoms in the past few weeks now has an advancement which sounds like
this is a distinct possibility to check for.

People tend to put off getting skin biopsies because they hear biopsy and think these
specimens will be a big deal to get, but they really are not. It was a piece of cake for
HIlbert.
