I think this info from the Archives will be of interest:

BEGIN QUOTE OF TWO YEAR OLD POST

Hi Ulrike,
Interesting question. Vetoryl (trilostane) is not
available here in the USA, but it has been used for
dogs with Cushings disease. It may work also for
ferrets with adrenal gland disease. Trilostane blocks
an enzyme that is needed for making adrenal steriods.
I do not know if it would block the production of adrenal sex
hormones.
If they use Vetoryl let us know how the ferret does on it.
Another product that is very similar to Lupron is Suprelorin.
It is made in Australia by Peptech animal health. Again not
available here in the USA, but perhaps it is available over in
the UK.
Hope that helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM

Perhaps this poster from 2004 will give a long term update for one who used=
the med:
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/SG10748

The med that was used here in the U.S. years ago before it was found that t=
his is Adrenal
Associated Endocrinopathy (AAE)
http://www.afip.org/ferrets/aae.html
instead of Cushings was Lysodren. It's results were variable with some fer=
rets having no
help at all and others winding up with bad levels of adrenal atrophy.

As time goes on more and more is learned; some approaches turn out to be mo=
re effective
than thought, some less so, and better methods are found.

Having the vulva decrease is size is often a decent indicator that the meds=
are working
nicely.
