Subject: [ferrethealth] bump on tail may become boulder on tail

It sounds like you have a cordoma. I had one removed from my Merlin and he did just fine with his foreshortened tail (and looked so cute). I also had one removed from an SPCA surrender, Stewart. He went in a happy, bouncing 2 year old boy and came back --- less... removal of the cordoma itself did not cause harm, but I do believe that he suffered some sort of brain damage as a result of the anesthesia.

Would I have another cordoma removed. In a heart beat - yes I would.

Surgery is dangerous, stuff happens - we rolls the dice and takes our chances.. what I am saying is weigh the good against the not too good... talk to her doctor about it remaining, being removed, is sooner better than later ... that growth can continue to get bigger and bigger and bigger until, like Stewart, she is dragging around what looks like some crude caveman's club.

If it were me, as soon as I had the funds, I would have the growth removed and let her get on with being a ferret. ;-)

Best wishes to you both and Happy Holidays with a very Merry Christmas

Vicki
