Subject: [ferrethealth] using poison control
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Well, MANY times I have directed people to Animal Poison Control but Steve =
and I have
never had to use it until today.

It was my fault, actually. I was hand washing something in a bucket in the=
bathtub with a
little laundry detergent but I got distracted and forgot to put up the bath=
room door
barrier. Then later Steve let Hubble run, not knowing about my washing. =

We followed the manufacturer's directions, rinsing him well and getting a l=
ot of water into
him (easily done when a little Nutristat is whisked into it) and then got t=
hrough to Animal
Poison Control when there was not related info found at their websites.

1-888-426-4435

Open 24/7, 365 day a year

OR

Angell Memorial Animal Medical Center Pet Poison Hotline
1-877-2ANGELL (1-877-226-4355)

Current case fee is $55, then a case number and a follow-up phone call numb=
er is given in
case there is any problem.

Right now he is doing GREAT, but we have to watch him for depression, nause=
a, vomiting,
diarrhea, etc. and if any of those bad things happen we have to call them =
back so free
follow-up.

They were excellent -- about a 2 or 3 minute wait for a representative, the=
n the rep
consults with the toxicologists. They were both very friendly and professi=
onal.

Accidents happen; I just wish I had remembered to put up the barrier.=20
