Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: vena cava ligation?!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I want to thank everyone who responded, both on- and off-list. The vet did an ultrasound
but not, I think, the depression. (Though with strong blood flow through the vena cava she
probably would not have started collateral circulation yet anyway, I think.) It does sound
like waiting is best. I had misunderstood the options because I thought there was ONLY
the vena cava. She's a female and thus immune to prostate problems, and is also only two
and full of energy, so I guess in that sense she's a good candidate. It sounds like there are
no other options anyway. Except that someone wrote to me about cryosurgery and after
thinking about it I wonder whether this is an alternative to ligation, or simply a better way
to do ligation when the time is right.
