According to Dr. Matti Kiupel of Michigan State who has worked on it, the recurrent coccidia
currently being seen is Eimeria furonis*, and my impression is that they have worked or are
working toward easier diagnosis of this organism.
In July I got a shock on the range of coccidia types in ferrets (at least 5 in two genera), and I
don't know if the list in this past post is complete:
