Subject: [ferrethealth] Changing food affecting ferret's weight
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I recently changed food to get my ferrets on a healthier diet. I
changed them to Innova Evo and Chicken Soup for the Kitten's Soul
blended. I did blend in some of their old food and all of my fuzzies
(except one) seem to be doing fine on it. I have also noticed their
coats and stools look better. My one fuzzy that does not seem to be
eating it is losing weight and she really cannot afford to lose the
weight (she's very small to begin with). I made some duck soup and
added in the Evo (blended it up) hoping that she would take to the
taste that way, but she is now just bulking at the duck soup, too. I
have taken to feeding her duck soup by syringe twice a day so that she
is getting food. My husband is going to buy some of the old food
today so that she can get some of that.

Here are my questions: How do I get her to eat the new food? What do
I do if she absolutely won't eat it? Do I just continue to feed her
the old food that is not as healthy? What if the other ferrets, given
a choice go back to the old food? I am trying to do what is right for
my ferrets..... and I'm now at a loss on how to proceed.
