Subject: [ferrethealth] Skin problem
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Today I was looking at my fuzzy Riley and I noticed that he had an
area of fur, about 3 inches around on his neck/shoulder area that was
a weird orangy color. At first, I thought that is fur was just
growing in that color, but when I looked at it closer, I noticed that
his skin was red there. He has not been acting any different, he has
not scratched that area more than any other spot (and he's not a
scratcher), and there doesn't appear to be any lumps or scales or
anything like that in the area. Does anyone know what this could be?
It has not happened to my other two ferrets and I wanted to check and
see if this was something I should be very worried about and to take
him to the vet right away, or if I should wait a few days and see how
it looks first, and to just get some advice. Thanks!

Oh, and he hasn't gotten any vaccines recently, hasn't started eating
any new food, no new laundry detergent or any other significant change
like that.
