Okay, first off, your ferrets do NOT have colds. Ferrets do NOT
get rhinoviruses. Don't take my word for it look at past posts
of ferret veterinary pathology expert Dr. Bruce Williams in
the FHL Archives:

Believe me, there are labs which would LOVE ferrets to be an
animal model for developing cold treatments, but they just
don't get colds. They DO get bacterial sinus infections (often
confused with colds but more serious and these are responsive
to the right antibiotics). They DO get influenza (and if mild enough
this can be confused with a cold and like a bacterial sinus infection
this is more serious than a cold, but unlike bacterial sinus
infections influenza is NOT responsive to antibiotics though
secondary infections can be). They can even get pneumonia and
pleurisy.
They also can have allergies and those are what Benedryl can
help reduce, though it can cause sleepiness. Make sure there are
no medication additives. Things like Tylenol destroy ferrets' livers
and can kill them painfully.
The things that ferrets get are more serious than the rhinovirus
colds we humans get so it is very important to know the difference,
even though people at times lump all together for convenience
in terminology.
