Subject: [ferrethealth] weight gain
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
The vet believes that Komay does have helicobacter. Besides the
pediapred, she's now on Amoxi-drops (.2 2x day), metronidazole (.1 2x
day), Carafate (.15 2-3x day), and pepcid.
She's 1 lb so she really needs to gain weight. I believe the a/d
that I'm feeding her mixed in with ground Pro Plan and water is doing
her more harm than good.
When I took her off the a/d and replaced it with Ensure for a
couple of days, her stools were beginning to look better-they were
firmer and did not have as much frank blood in them. However, the vet
told me to put her back on a/d and again she has bloody diarrhea.
This morning I replaced the a/d with baby food.
I'm just afraid that the baby food won't help her gain much weight.
She needs the weight back now because I have to go back to work on
Tuesday and won't be able to syringe feed her as much as I am now.
Does anyone have any ideas of what else I can give her to help her
put weight back on? Kitten Milk Replacement?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Sheryl
