Hi Jeff and Neo,

I have used Timmy's Tonic when we were treating one of our guys for lymphoma, we also used Essiac and chemo. He had a large tumor that involved a major blood vessel that supplied his small intestines and removal was impossible. He got 6 months of good quality life before he became sick and we helped him cross. Anyway, one of the major components of Timmy's Tonic is honey, it is sweet and Nipper really liked the taste but did not have insulinoma. I actually spoke with the inventor of Timmy's Tonic for about 2 hours on the phone and he recommends for insulinoma mix it with their water and when they feel their sugar levels drop they get a drink. He is a very intelligent man and was very helpful. In theory it should work but I have not tried it for any of my insulinoma kids. We have chosen the standard approach which has been VERY successful for us. It is as follows:

Breakfast between 0630 and 0700, Bob's Chicken Gravy with pred mixed in.

Lunch between 1230 and 1300 Bob's Chicken Gravy

Supper between 1900 and 1930 Bob's Chicken Gravy and pred.

Kibble available constantly and absolutely no sugary treats are allowed.

Our longest survivior with insulinoma is coming on on 4 years after diagnosis. Personally I feel that keeping them on a strict schedule that allows for high protien, low sugars/carbs/starches and making sure that they get their medicine the same time every day will give you your best chance of success.

Hope this helps, and BTW we are now beginning to introduce Proglycem so that we can reduce the pred dosage. If you are interested I will let you know how that goes.

Subject: [ferrethealth] Holistic approach to Insulinoma/Timmy's Tonic

Hello To All:

In researching possible holistic alternatives to treating Neo's
insulinoma and other tumors in ferrets, I came across something called
Timmy's Tonic that is now sold commercially by a major ferret website.

There is also a non-commercial website for the stuff, where I read
testimonials, and a lot of info by and about the originator. I'm
wondering if anyone has any experiences, good, bad, or otherwise,
with Timmy's Tonic. There is also a related Red Clover tonic which
is supposed to be specifically aimed at shrinking tumors.

Any feedback is very much appreciated.

Jeff and Neo
