Subject: [ferrethealth] Adrenal mass vs ovarian remnant?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have a 15 month old female ferret Scarlet Rose that came back with
TN adrenal panel indicating presence of adrenal disease. Estradiol
pmol/L 323.0, 17 OH Progesterone nmol/L .021, Androstenedione nmol/L
5.5.

History: At 4 months of age she joined our household because her
owner was allergic. In her prior household she was an only ferret and
lucky to get out once a day for a little while. We quarantined her
for two weeks, she had a vet checkup and then we slowly introduced
her to our five male ferrets at the time. From the start she
aggressively attacked my husband and stepsons by latching on with her
teeth and not letting go. She only tried this occasionally with me.
She also had cage rage and broke some teeth because she wanted out.
In our household they get anywhere from 6 to 8 hours out of the cage,
but because we don't have a room that we can exclusively dedicate to
them, someone has to be around when they are out as they get into
anything and everything, especially Scarlet. I worked and worked on
the biting issue believing that maybe it was due to being a kit. I
hoped that when she became one it would miraculously stop. However,
she started agressively biting me. Someone suggested that it could be
adrenal so I had my vet take blood and send it for the TN panel.

Any way, since all of her symptoms were there at 4 months and
possibly earlier, I was wondering if it could be an incomplete spay
vs adrenal disease?
